FIRST STEPS

Christophe Pillet’s design philosophy can be summed up in a few eloquent words: “I am not on a quest for the extraordinary, but rather for that which is beautiful and able to kindle emotion in the ordinary”.
This impassioned exploration of the essence of things is also fully developed in the design of the First Steps chair whose lyric simplicity seems to trace back to the archetypal object-chair.

The sinuous structure that rises to form the metal backrest has a painted finish, while the tightly woven seat material is entirely hand-made in either paper cord or paper rush cord.

The same design and materials appear in the bar stool, whose refined appearance translates to undeniable versatility, making it a tasteful and discreet fit in any setting.

GINGER

The Ginger sofa, designed by Antonio Citterio in 1984, returns to the collection, re-establishing the absolute relevancy of its design today. After the re-edition last year of the eponymous chaise longue, Flexform reinterprets it with the same minimalist elegance and the same balance between aesthetic value and comfort, expressed in a new configuration. The tubular metal structure, trademark feature of the design, welcomes generously sized seat and backrest cushions, their enveloping softness an invitation to relax. The two cowhide-clad pivoting side tables are incorporated into the armrests and serve as elegant, functional table-top surfaces. The detail of the leather-clad cylindrical bar that embraces the backrest cushions, and the system of springs that optimize the sofa’s support, express a sophisticated combination of design research and artisan savoir-faire. An icon of style that defies time with its discreet, refined allure.

GRANDEMARE

The Grandemare sofa was designed with an eye to understatement, but it is rich in (sometimes hidden) design solutions that reveal its many virtues. It is a clustering of geometric shapes – that are nonetheless soft and entirely free of sharp corners – that rest on a cowhide-upholstered wood platform. Tone-on-tone or contrasting color grosgrain piping enhances the seat, armrest and seat back upholstery. An epoxy-powder-coated metal perimeter frame, set back from the edges of the cowhide-clad platform, gives the Grandemare sofa the appearance of floating.

GREGORY | GREGORY XL

The Gregory sofa’s bold personality and exquisite proportions reveal sophisticated construction details that place it firmly center stage in any living space.

The austerity of the unique metal base is softened by the warmth of the elegant leather used to tailor-finish the exposed parts of the elastic webbing that hosts the seat cushions. Just like the couture tailoring of the grosgrain piping that outlines the soft cushions, this formal-aesthetic solution traces back to the expertise that is the essence of the company’s genetic legacy.

The goose-down-filled backrest cushions and bolster noticeably improve comfort and promote proper ergonomics while enjoying a good read.

The metal structure and cast aluminum feet come in several finishes that are limited only by the imagination in terms of sophisticated color pairings with the cowhide webbing, available in tobacco, dark brown and black.

The Gregory seating system is perfectly poised between classicism and modernity and, thanks to its modular agility, sparks creativity in countless arrangements that can furnish the most diverse settings with style and elegance.

GROUNDPIECE

An undeniable best-seller from the Flexform collection, Groundpiece has transformed the very concept of the sofa, introducing several innovations. First of all, it is a deconstructed line with new proportions – the Groundpiece sofa is low and deep, designed as a more relaxed and casual approach to seating. Groundpiece embodies the quintessence of Flexform comfort and is exceptionally inviting, thanks to the amply-sized goose-down cushions. Groundpiece also allows for the utmost personalization of the padded elements that can be crafted in goose down, in the premium version, or in Dacron.

Aware that changes in lifestyle spark new behaviors and needs, Groundpiece introduced a new dimension to the way the sofa is used, investing it with new functions. On today’s sofas, people rest, watch TV, read, and often work and even have dinner.

This also led to the brilliant idea of redesigning the armrest concept, which in Groundpiece can either be padded and upholstered or a cowhide-clad metal console, that can be used as a flat surface for accessories and provided with shelves to hold objects of all kinds.

HAIKU

In Japanese, the word Haiku defines the particular composition of a type of verse, one that is touching in its spontaneity, apparent simplicity, and freedom from rhetoric and artifice.

This approach is linked in some ways to the design concept which underlies the family of Haiku seating elements: a labour of painstaking detail that progresses by subtraction to arrive at the essence of the design but that calls for masterful execution and an almost obsessive attention to every constructive detail.

Cowhide was the natural choice in which to make this product ‒ an extremely fascinating material, flexible but also durable ‒ used to tailor the understated upholstery for the seat, backrest and armrests and fits the underlying metal structure like a glove, available in a number of elegant finishes.

Metal with satin, chrome, black chrome, burnished, glossy anthracite or matt titanium 710 finish; or, in mat lacquered finish in the same colour as the cowhide upholstery: sand 610, olive 506, tobacco 515, russian red 508, dark brown 504, extra dark brown 513, grey 503, black 900.
