RETHINKING RUGS

Rethinking Rugs
CC-Tapis brings a fresh perspective to rug-making, blending centuries-old craftsmanship with bold, contemporary design. Originally founded in France, the company relocated to Milan in 2011, where its team, led by art director Daniele Lora, collaborates with some of the most inventive designers today. The result is a collection that challenges expectations—not just in form and colour but in how a rug can define a space.
Hand-knotting remains at the heart of CC-Tapis, a meticulous process carried out by Tibetan artisans in Nepal using time-honoured techniques. Each rug is made entirely by hand, from carding and spinning Himalayan wool to the final wash that enhances its texture. The company has also expanded production to India and Italy, incorporating handloom and hand-tufting methods alongside modern robotufting for experimental, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Committed to sustainability, CC-Tapis selects natural materials such as pure silk, linen, and Himalayan wool, as well as regenerated fibres, balancing heritage with responsible production. This ethos extends beyond materials—since 2015, the brand has supported weavers’ communities through the non-profit CC-For Education, funding private schooling for Nepalese artisans’ children.
With a playful spirit and an openness to creative exploration, CC-Tapis continues to push the boundaries of rug design, offering pieces that can be laid on the floor or hung on a wall, transforming interiors in ways both functional and unexpected.
